Responding to the growing concern amongst community transport providers to discuss the various issues regarding the financial costs of vehicle maintenence and replacement, ETAN held a Fleet Management Seminar in October, 2005.

The seminar was followed by a November Fleet Management Workshop attended by various HACC funded organisations throughout the eastern metropolitan region.  Presentations were made by DHS Fleet Management and represenatatives from the Community Sector Investment Funded Agency Channel (CSIF).  The Workshop provided attendees with options to form alliances and networks in regards to managing their fleets and increasing their buying power when purchasing, insuring and maintaining  vehicles.

The CSIF is in the process of developing a web tool to assist community organisations with their fleet management needs.  More information and a link to the website will be added to this page in 2006...

Progressing from the Fleet Management Workshop, ETAN is currently surveying ETAN members on their thoughts on fleet management and their opinions of the three models of fleet management presented at the workshop and documented in the DHS report, Fleet Management Solutions, Consultants Report (2005)

Managing Community Transport: Distinctive Systems - Coach Manager Database Package

The Coach Manager Community Transport System database product offered by Distinctive Systems has been developed to meet the specialised needs of the community transport industry. The database package handles any journey that repeats on either a regular or irregular basis. The Coach Manager Community Transport System enhances this facility by allowing a list of passengers to be associated with each individual journey.

Similar database software packages could be used as a record keeping/risk management and booking system for Community Transport service providers as they allow for information to be recorded and updated in regards to vehicle maintenance/running issues, client profiles, details of pick-up ad drop-off venues and details of the transport booking.
